God Bless Billy Graham!!!
God Bless Billy Graham on his 99th birthday today!
God has truly blessed all of us with and through Billy Graham as he has tirelessly committed himself to carrying out the cause of Christ to reach as many people as possible with the Gospel. And that includes reaching me. I made a decision to believe in Jesus at a young age at a movie theater in Tucson Arizona. I was seven years old.
Where my mom worked at the time, one of her friends there was a Christian, and she would share her faith at work with my mom, inviting her to church, Bible studies, and get-togethers. And she recommended that my mom and I go see “Time to Run” – a movie produced by World Wide Pictures with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. And we went to see the movie.
And when the movie was over and the lights came back on in the theater, there were local area pastors and volunteers standing up front sharing the Gospel with us:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NASB)
That Jesus came according to Scripture – fulfilling prophecies that were written about Him. The Son of God stepped out of heaven. Becoming a man – fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin. Faced all the same temptation that we face. And unlike us, He never sinned. He never stumbled. He was perfect.
Then He stepped between us and God – taking our place. And was crucified on a cross and died taking the punishment and paying the price for the sins of the world – for everyone.
And God raised Him from the dead on the third day – a risen Savior, victorious over sin, death, and the grave. He ascended back to heaven where He is now at the right hand of God, and He’s coming back one day in great power and glory.
They were sharing with us that Jesus is alive to this day!
And they were inviting those of us who wanted to come forward to believe in Jesus, to put our faith in Him.
I made a decision that day to believe in Jesus – and I got saved, and so did my mom. It’s cool how that worked out… We both made that decision at the same time.
This is the most important decision you can ever make, and the one decision in your life that you need to get right. Everything depends on it.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him and He with me.” Revelation 3:20 (NASB)
Today could be the day that you choose to open that door. Read more…
